This position is located in the Access and Equity Branch within the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) with a portfolio of reasonable accommodation, language access, and EEO Guidance services. An ideal candidate for this position has subject matter expertise in reasonable accommodation under the Rehabilitation Act, experience processing reasonable accommodation requests, strong time management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Duties

The responsibilities include: 1. Provides advice, guidance, feedback and support to NIH policy functions on areas of concern related to Reasonable Accommodation (RA), accessibility, and diversity issues within assigned institutes. 2. Identifies reasonable accommodation (RA) and language access (LA) problem areas. 3. Provides effective Reasonable Accommodation (RA) consultation to/with requestor and decision maker, while complying with appropriate regulations, agency (RA) Policy and Procedures, and established internal processes. 4. Provides written Reasonable Accommodation (RA) guidance and/or consultation to management officials. 5. Evaluates progress of the Accessibility Consultancy periodically in areas such as timeliness, customer services, and internal processes, and other accessibility actions.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: assisting in processing reasonable accommodation (RA) requests; assisting in researching statistics related to federal employees' reasonable accommodation (RA) requests; assisting in providing employees with reasonable accommodation (RA) information such as reasonable accommodation (RA) policy and procedures, how to determine who is a qualified individual with a disability, determining essential job functions and effective accommodations relative to medical limitations, prohibited practices, employee rights, or affirmative action goals; and researching well established EEO policies, reasonable accommodation (RA) procedures, and regulatory requirements and standards to provide guidance to employees. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
