About the Position: This position is located at Fort Johnson, Louisiana.
Duties
Provide item manager-supply technician support to all internal and external customers of the Installation Medical Supply Activity.
Provide customers with answers to problems and questions relative to stock status.
Conduct extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns.
Determine quantities required to maintain sufficient on-hand balance using established guidelines and formulae.
Perform a variety of duties pertaining to planning and determining supply requirements, performing physical inventories, and processing files.
Participate in the inventory process to include but not limited to daily, twice weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inventories.
Utilize databases to retrieve reports to respond to variety of customer, program review and vendor inquiries.
Type letters, reports, memorandum, and other related documentation in either rough draft or final form.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing research to resolve supply errors; taking supply inventory or editing supply requisitions; and utilizing an automated database system or software program to prepare documents and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
