Duties

Serve as working leader of 5 employees. Receive assignments from supervisor and delegate individual tasks to other workers. Ensure that all recipes, supplies, utensils, and food items are available and properly accounted for in accordance with internal control procedures. Work along with other workers, setting the pace performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties in the dish room, pot and pan, and server areas. Wash heavy pots and pans, dishes, trays, and service ware from the kitchen, dining room, catering functions and patient care units. Assist handicapped dining room customers with meal selection and transport. Dispose of waste in accordance with established safety and sanitation procedures.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common tasks such as loading dish machine and unloading clean dishes. Assist handicapped dining room customers with meal selection and transport. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used and slippery floors; exposed to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks. Incumbent is subject to extremes in temperature of hot kitchens and walk-in refrigerators. Shift work may be required by the position.
