You will serve as an Information Systems Security Engineer in the Unmanned and Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department within the Theater Undersea Warfare C5I Systems Division at Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Keyport, Washington (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA).

Duties

You will lead government teams and work with contractor personnel to document, build, and test secure information systems using appropriate Navy Testing Guidance, Risk Management Framework (RMF) security controls, tools, and processes. You will Identify system risks and provide recommendations to achieve compliance, developing specific mitigations and remediation actions for identified risks. You will prepare RMF based Assessment and Authorization accreditation packages for Theater Undersea Warfare C5I information systems. You will coordinate, manage, and perform continuous updating, monitoring, assessment, maintenance, and reporting of system security in accordance with the Navy Security Control Assessor Testing Guidance. You will validate control operations, addressing emerging risks with the goal of improving department information system cybersecurity and resilience. You will review, interpret, and provide recommendations to cybersecurity lifecycle support directives, policies, and procedures. You will be required to implement, administer, maintain, and secure systems in UNIX/Red Hat Enterprise Linux/VMware/Windows environments.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 612 level Advanced within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Coordinating Information Technology (IT) cybersecurity operations (e.g., tasks, projects) to secure (e.g., implement, administer, maintain) Theater Undersea Systems or projects requiring systems of systems integration and interfacing (e.g., workstation computers, servers, general purpose scientific computers, virtual machines) to ensure cybersecurity strategies (e.g., trends, solutions, risk reduction). Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
