The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars provides an essential link between policy and ideas by promoting initiatives that explore current and emerging challenges confronting the United States and the world.  The History and Public Policy Program supports the overall Wilson Center mission of scholarship-driven policy advice. It encourages policy-relevant historical stakeholders to solve the most pressing political, social, and economic issues affecting U.S. foreign relations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the specialized experience which will demonstrate your ability to perform the major responsibilities of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Selective Placement Factor: Must be able to communicate professionally (write, read, and verbal) in Mandarin. GS-14 Specialized Experience:to qualify you must have at least one (1) year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) that include the following types of experiences/duties: Expert knowledge and experience with historical science related to policy-relevant research on U.S. diplomatic history, international history, and U.S. foreign policy or related topics;  Record of scholarly historical publications, media presence as an expert on issues relating to the area of the History and Public Policy work; Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to produce written materials for publication; Cultivating relationships to expand public initiatives and identifying appropriate speakers for public events; Identifying funding opportunities, coordinating grants, and preparing grant reports and other materials requested by funders; Communicating professionally (written, reading, and oral) in Mandarin. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
