Serves as a Maintanence Worker Helper in the Engineering Department of the Hale Koa Hotel. This announcement is open to current Hale Koa Hotel employees only.

Duties

Performs a variety of trades and craft duties involving maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities. Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry, painting, and laboring work. The incumbent may also be required to operate a motor vehicle. Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors. Patches and paints walls, replaces faucet washers, light bulbs and fuses. Un-stops sinks and toilet bowls. Hangs electrical fixtures and repairs screens and storm sashes. Makes minor repairs to furniture and woodwork. May occasionally assist in moving furniture or refinishing the appearance. Assists in the maintenance and repair of building exteriors. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying by applying sealing compounds and primers. Finishes rough edges, smoothing them with file, emery cloth and sandpaper. Paints when surfaces are ready. Sets up and adjusts ladders and scaffolding. Carries, lifts and holds materials in position during the repair operation. Nails loose boards and replaces window glass. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A physical examination is required
• Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Must have a working knowledge of wood working techniques and basic shop mathematics. Must be skilled in use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades to perform a variety of tasks. Must have a knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Must have ability to read and follow basic blueprints and sketches. If assigned to operate a motor vehicle, must have skills and knowledge to accomplish safe operation of vehicles operated. Experience in performing duties as described and the ability to follow oral and written instructions involving those duties.
