Duties

Serves as the Division Chief (DC) for the Telecommunication Office, Providing technical and managerial direction to complex telecommunications program as well as evaluating potential technologies Providing a technical assessment for use in determining which of several data communication networks best solves the Bureau's communications requirements. Setting up a separate operation away from headquarters to process a large-scale economic survey or census to include Acquiring equipment, Developing the strategy for remote operation, mobile communication operations. Supports a myriad of applications, ranging from networking office information systems at headquarters to linking via a sophisticated telecommunication system to all collection and processing offices for the implementation. Analyzes mobile networking needs by planning, developing, and implementing strategies to assure that products and services are available when needed to meet mission requirements.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Planning, and developing long range telecommunications forecasts which includes advising executive staff on the application of new developments and advances in technologies and the changing telecommunication rules and regulations at the Federal, state, and local levels. Experience directing a cadre of highly technical specialists in a fast pace constantly evolving intricate hardware and software dependent environment. Five or more years of experience in a managerial role, and an in-depth knowledge of not only your own functional roles, but that of the entire department. In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
