This position is within the Primary Care Clinic of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, located in Phoenix, AZ. Incumbent is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health services in accordance with hospital policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations. Incumbent assists with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, coordination of resources and quality improvement for the Employee Health Program.

Duties

Oversees and manages the administrative and operational activities of occupational health services. Assures compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations. Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services. Provides routine immunization services to employees, and monitors immunization status of the hospital community and administers vaccines as needed. Coordinates employee PPD testing and screening, N95 Fit Testing and employee influenza vaccine clinic annually. Maintains employee health records and prepares statistical reports related to activities and program status. Prepares other required reports for use in program operation. Collaborates with Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources and Staff Development to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content expertise. Prepares orientation materials to acquaint new employees with available services through the Employee Health Program.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition , they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, The District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0610-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples Include: Ensures immunization requirements are established; screens for required immunizations; coordinates with Infection Control Nurse regarding exposure, including annual Influenza immunization for all employees; oversees Blood Borne Pathogen program; manages BBP exposure of employees; assists medical clearance and employee education; works with Human Resources on Workman's Compensation efforts; maintains all employee health files in an organized health tracking system; generates reports; presents employee health program and immunity requirements. OR Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. (Must provide evidence with your application if qualifying using this option.) Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
