This position serves as the Deputy Director of the Congressional Affairs Division in the Office of External Affairs, Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The ideal candidate for this position assists the Director of Congressional Affairs with management, and direction of the division’s programs, and activities, and execution.

Qualifications

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.   To qualify for this position at the GS-15 level (starting salary $155,700), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  Experience demonstrating expertise in working on federal legislative, and state, local policy issues, Experience in a congressional affairs and intergovernmental government or non-government entity, Experience executing outreach efforts with the United States Congress, and  Experience maintaining relationships with House, and Senate Offices, Members of Congress, and relevant committees.
