The United States Space Force is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands.

Duties

Duty 1 (Critical): Plans, manages, coordinates, advises, executes, and trains on protocol activities for special events, ceremonies, conferences and projects in support of the Buckley Space Base Delta 2 Commander, Vice Commander, and Director of Staff. Manages and assists in a variety of special visits, tours, meetings, and other events attended by or presided over by executive leadership. Advises and provides guidance to event leads and/or action/project officers on all protocol matters such as flags, seating, and dress. Plans and directs the execution of official social functions including determination of proposed guest lists, entertainment, degree of formality, appropriate type of function, etc. Coordinates a wide range of details including sequence of events/agenda, sites, transportation, routes/maps, welcome packages, lodging, escorts, staff vehicles, parking, communication requirements, preferences, etc. Ensures Chief of Protocol or Director of Staff is notified of any barriers, problems, or issues potentially causing non-execution or mission-failure of any part of any event or situation. Briefs and assists project and escort officers on their respective duties/responsibilities. Compiles and reviews complete project documentation packages and assures coordination/approval at all staff levels. Prepares event briefs for executives on events they are hosting or attending. Duty 2 (Critical): Plans, manages, coordinates, advises, executes, and trains on protocol activities for visits by distinguished guests and groups. Upon notification of impending visits, plans, coordinates, and programs the visit to ensure senior leader status and prestige are maintained. Conducts research on visitor's background and preferences to preclude any breach of protocol or customs and courtesies. Coordinates appropriate honors accorded to distinguished visitors. Coordinates with other support offices such as security to verify clearance levels; transportation to coordinate staff cars or mass movements; Base Operations to determine arrival and departure times, FSS Community Center (or off-base caterer) for food and beverage, etc. Ascertains visit requirements and objectives to meet the expectations of executives and distinguished visitors. Plans, coordinates, and executes itineraries/sequence of events, and monitors travel/movement of distinguished guests during official visits to the installation. Periodically serves as on-call Duty Officer, handling all associated protocol responsibilities related to the arrival and departure of non-scheduled distinguished visitors (DVs) and completing all related on-call duty officer report to installation protocol personnel and Airfield Operations. Duty 3 (Critical): Prepares and updates presentations, protocol briefings/reports, correspondence and performs special projects. Performs data collections and ensures recurring and one-time reports are thorough and accurate. Researches data and selects topics for informal visitor brochures, keeping the information up-to-date, as needed. Researches the background and special needs/interests of national and international visitors. Establishes and maintains visitor and other protocol information files. Communicates information, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of individuals or audiences such as commanders, visitors, the staffs of offices providing support to events, and committees. Composes various protocol correspondences to include requests for funding, letters of appreciation, letters of invitation, etc., for the commander's signature. Prepares visit packages, event briefs, and sequence of events to communicate information to senior leadership and others involved with activities. Constructs welcome packages. Prepares lessons learned. Duty 4 (Critical): Coordinates day-to-day operations of the protocol office. Under the direction of the Chief of Protocol and the Director of Staff, plans and organizes daily activities of the Protocol Office. Researches and applies Service guidelines, policies, and regulations. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Reviews all protocol products for compliance to applicable standards. Serves as the Alternate Custodian for Official Representation Funds (ORF). Functions as the Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) for Protocol collaborating with the Logistics Readiness Squadron to secure vehicles and drivers for Distinguished Visitor activities, special events, and ceremonies. Maintains an up-to-date master calendar of six business suites within base lodging. Processes lodging requests for general and flag officers or civilian equivalents. Utilizes the necessary protocol tools to determine occupancy capacity and appropriately manages the situation when more reservations are received then suites are available. Upgrades O-6 and E-9 guests when requested as possible.

  • A Top Secret Security clearance is required.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission.
