Duties
The Acquisition Program Manager position has the role of coordinating program efforts across the United States Space Force for Information Technology Infrastructure. As part of the Headquarters Space Force Staff, defining guidance to the force for IT program activities, coordinating Space Force requirements with the DAF CIO, and aligning Space Force Base-IT services are key roles. Additionally, this position will be a key advisor to USSF leadership in support of service wide IT program decisions, resourcing, and portfolio management. It requires a socially capable person who can connect across USSF Field Commands and align requirements for network, cybersecurity, and communications infrastructure programs. Technical and management competence is a must to drive these programs to successful and impactful outcomes, as well as, understanding service levels received from Department of Air Force Enterprise Information Technology activities.
A deep understanding of IT acquisition competencies is desired to establish IT management controls such as milestones, portfolio management, and managing support contracts to help the USSF achieve success in modernizing IT. Key areas where program management will help advance the USSF are artificial intelligence, advanced networking, base IT capabilities, and modern wireless connectivity including 5G advances. It is a fast-paced position the helps a young military service mature program process policies, and achieve global leadership by leveraging advanced technologies.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in one of the following areas: a) IT Systems Engineering b) IT Project Management c) Program Management
- Education - BS or higher in business with a technical focus, program management, systems engineering, computer science, mathematics, or engineering from a fully accredited university.
- Training - Ideal applicants will hold industry credentials for IT fields (CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network, Network +, IT Project +, or other valid certification) and/or Program Management certifications (PMP)
- Acquisition Program Manager will be responsible for: a) IT subject matter expert for USSF IT capable of advising USSF senior leadership on projects and technologies b) Leading IT technology services and technology integration c) Leading USSF IT project portfolios d) Coordinating and capturing requirements for USSF IT Projects and e) Planning IT projects to meet future USSF information technology needs
- Solid understanding of IT projects and management practices, including IT system development leadership, IT budget estimation, and IT requirements development
- Able to advise, coordinate, implement, and lead IT projects being developed at the HQSF and manage the cost, performance, and schedule dynamics of IT projects and their transition for execution at Field Commands
- Capable of defining program elements and technical design of IT solutions- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with military and civilian leadership at all levels of the organization.- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Motivated individual, capable of prioritizing many high-visibility activities and balancing action across many military service wide IT projects
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SSBI clearance.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position is eligible for telework 4-6 days a pay period.
- PCS funding is available.
