This vacancy is for a IT Project Manager position in the Department of Commerce located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. Duties

Apply technical knowledge to guide others in managing IT systems/applications while prioritizing business goals, and information needs. Manage the full project lifecycle using Agile, Incremental or Waterfall methodologies. This includes project initiation, execution, monitoring, controlling, closing, and transitioning of the project to operations and maintenance. Coordinate management and oversight for multiple IT projects and programs within IT portfolio. Integrating key dependencies and deliverables across schedules, identifying, and solving problems that improve processes and ensure projects/reports are completed efficiently and accurately. Provide leadership to motivate and guide personnel through the project duration.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Using technical knowledge to lead teams in managing IT systems/applications; Manage the full project lifecycle using Agile, Incremental or Waterfall methodologies; Evaluating project processes and developing solutions to problems so projects are completed efficiently; and Monitoring teams and project progress to ensure on time and within budget. In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
