The incumbent is responsible for administrating and coordinating the clinical education program for physical therapy students/interns, physical therapists, facility staff with regard to physical therapy topics, and volunteers or students assigned to the Physical Therapy Department.
Duties
Duties:
Develop protocols and processes, including competencies for the clinical training program.
Assist in establishing and maintaining affiliation agreements with universities. Serve as liaison with universities in determining logistics (numbers, dates, assignments) of students accepted for training.
Fill out appropriate applications to provide funding for physical therapy interns.
Develop and coordinates physical therapy orientations and training programs for different levels of physical therapy personnel.
Provide documentation for residency applications. Reviews and analyzes program so the guidelines of the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) are met.
Monitor effectiveness of clinical training program for physical therapy affiliates.
Participate in organizing physical therapy outreach programs for staff and community using appropriate
Personnel.
Serve as the point of contact for National Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinical education
directives.

Physical Therapist GS 13
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Language. Physical Therapists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).
Licensure. Individuals hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Education. The individual must meet at least one of the requirements below: (1) Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. FEBRUARY 7, 2018 VA HANDBOOK 5005/99 PART II APPENDIX G12 II-G12-3 (2) Master's degree in Physical Therapy AND two (2) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. (3) Doctorate degree in physical therapy.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations:
GS-13 Physical Therapist (Program Coordinator)
(a) Experience. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate all the following KSAs.
(b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to apply advanced knowledge of contemporary physical therapy within specialty area to provide clinical guidance, training or education for internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to serve as a consultant within the assigned program area for intra-agency and interagency planning and to provide service coordination to optimize program continuity, efficiency and effectiveness.
Knowledge of and skill in management, administration and/or education methodologies. This includes the ability to monitor and track data, utilize available resources effectively, evaluate program quality, and generate reports for local, and/or VISN and/or VACO leadership.
Ability to develop and coordinate treatment and/or educational programs within a concentrated field or specialty area, such as, but not limited to, amputee, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, student clinical education/residency programming, polytrauma/traumatic brain injury.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships within department and with other departments or affiliated programs.
Ability to guide the work of a multi-disciplinary team.
The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13.
Preferred Experience: Clinical Coordination with Physical Therapy Universities. Supervision of Clinical Instructors. Familiarity with PT Residency Programs

Physical Requirements: The incumbent of the position will meet and maintain physical and drug test program requirements for the position as required. There will be periods of walking and ambulating patients, providing patient transfers, and some lifting of 35 pounds and supporting patients.
