About the Position: This position is located within the Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore Georgia. The incumbent will serve as a Health Technician (Audiology) that performs a variety of technical and administrative audiology duties in the Audiology Clinic and for the Hearing Conservation Program, to include pediatric audiometry for newborns up to 3 months old and children ages 6-12
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Review medical records, receive patients, seat, and instruct them in audiometric testing procedures
Determine extent of testing to be performed (e.g. annual screening, pre-employment screening, in-depth hearing loss, etc.)
Perform tests such as otoscopy, pure tone air, impedance, Tympanometry (test for the middle ear), stapedial reflex (muscle contraction), static compliance, speech recognition; speech discrimination test, and Stenger tests.
Perform cerumentectomy, irrigates patient's ears, applies suction, removes foreign bodies from ears and performs other procedures as required.
Review records to determine type of test required.
Examine hearing aid and repairs if minor repair is needed (e.g. tone hook replacement, new tubing on BTE ear mold, battery replacement, cleaning).
Update patient medical records annotating tests, results and referrals made.
Record audiometric data in AuDBase (electronic audiogram), information is placed in MHS Genesis (automated health record).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A child background check will be required.
- Required to obtain, possess and maintain a Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservation Technicians Certification.
- Required to pass a pre-appointment physical.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Duties involving direct patient contact, incumbent subject to complete a series of three immunizations against Hepatitis.
- Incumbent will be required to wear a uniform and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Perform a variety of audiological diagnostic procedures and treatment techniques involving examinations (2) Use various computer health care programs and/or database for scheduling and maintaining medical data or records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
