About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. The nearby lakes, Belton and Stillhouse, offer year round outdoor recreation activities.

Duties

Assists the training supervisor in the establishment of the school's work objectives, mission focus and support priorities based on mission training and deployments. Assists in establishing annual Request for Service Contract Approval (RSCA) for the Military Skills Enhancement (MSE) contract/III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos Troop School Program. Conducts cost benefit analysis (CBA) that justifies funding of the Troop School contract with III Corps G8/FORSCOM and the Contract Review Board (CRB) annually. Serves as the III Corps civilian education specialist responsible for monitoring, planning, programming, and the execution of a variety of academic programs for technical and educational training of civilian employees within the command. Assists in analyzing schools scheduling processes ensuring that requested training meets all Army and local regulatory requirements and is sufficient to support the mission of the requesting unit. Plans, reviews, and coordinates academic programs with multiple training proponents and training consumers within III Corps and Fort Cavazos. Assists the training supervisor by managing Military Training Specific Allotment (MTSA) funding.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Requires infrequent travel within the state of Texas and the United States.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Learning and Education Studies, Teaching and Learning, Learning and Development, Training and Development, Education and Training, Organizational Leadership and Learning, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education / Training Program AdministrationLearning and Program EvaluationTraining Program Evaluation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
