Duties

As a Title 10 Faculty Member (Unified Action), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Performs professional instructional duties in the development, revision, evaluation, presentation of subjects in international relations, strategy, US national, military security affairs, and joint/multinational/interagency planning and operations. Presents graduate-level lectures, seminars, and other instruction to CGSC resident and extended campus students on Command and General Staff Officer’s Course (CGSOC) common core and Advanced Operations Course (AOC) curriculum. Assists in preparation and review of graduate-level course syllabi, lesson plans, examinations, practical exercises, visual aids, support requests, student issue plans, and other plans that specify instructional support requirements. Writes geopolitical, national military security, and operational level of war articles for publication in such journals as Military Review, Parameters, Joint Forces Quarterly, and other juried publications. Assists in development of graduate-level curricula for both the CGSC resident and nonresident programs.

NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts to your application package. -AND- Military Education Requirement: This position requires the incumbent be an Intermediate Level Education (ILE) graduate and achieved Military Education Level 4 or Joint Professional Military Education Level 1 (Command and General Staff Officer's Course or another sister service Intermediate level education course).NOTE: You must attach copies of your transcripts, certificate of completion, DD214 Member Copy 4 showing the course under the education portion, or other documentation for the above course. -AND- Specialized experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience is defined as experience providing graduate-level lectures, seminars, developing and revising course material, preparing and reviewing course syllabi, and lesson plans.. -AND- PhD Requirement: This position requires the incumbent to obtain a PhD or equivalent professional doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, in a field or comparable field related to the position, within six years from entry on duty (EOD). Faculty hires that commit to completing a terminal degree will be assessed every two years and may be reappointed for consecutive two-year terms, based upon evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion in six years. Failure to obtain a PhD or equivalent professional doctorate degree within the required six year timeframe will be cause for your removal from the position. Tested experience specific to the teaching position may be used in lieu of a Ph.D/terminal degree with the approval of the Deputy Commandant. Tested experience for this position includes a minimum of 20 years military service -and- a. Brigade command of an Operations or Operations Support unit (CSL), or a Corps G-2 position; must be MEL 1 qualified; or b. Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) Level III (3L Army equivalent); or c. successful completion of at least two Joint Duty Assignments (JDAs) at the field grade level, at the JTF level or higher for a combined total of at least four years. Length of JDAs is calculated based on enclosure G, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Instruction (CJCSI) 1330.05A Joint Officer Management Procedures, 15 Dec 2015, or the most current version. This qualification will be assessed on a case-by-case basis You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Knowledge of joint and US Army Doctrine Teaching small group facilitation Curriculum development or assessment methodologies NOTE: This position may be filled at one of the following academic ranks: Instructor Assistant Professor Associate Professor Professor *Academic rank and salary will be determined based on the selectee's education and experience.
