Duties
As a Title 10 Faculty Member, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Present graduate-level resident and/or nonresident instruction to Command and General Staff Officers Course (CGSOC) students in Common Core, Advanced Operation Course, and electives curriculum.
Counsels students and provides feedback on academic assessments and overall performance. Assists students in preparing and executing Individual Development Plans (IDP).
Develops graduate-level curricula for both CGSS resident and nonresident programs.
Serves as a subject matter expert to initiate curriculum changes, develop instructional approaches and work with other CGSS department members to ensure continuity and integration of course content.
Contributes to the body of professional knowledge. Conducts research in topics related to the profession and writes articles for professional publication. Assists students in graduate level research in area of expertise.
Serves on various CGSC committees or working groups as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 25% of the time.
- The work involves physical effort typical of teaching positions, with substantial platform instruction.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. MASTER'S DEGREE: All applicants must possess a Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts to your application. INTERMEDIATE LEVEL EDUCATION (ILE): This position requires applicants to be a graduate of the Intermediate Level Education (ILE)(Command and General Staff Officers Course) or another military service ILE course and achieved Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) status.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have at least one year of specialized experience teaching, training, or mentoring field grade officers (or equivalent), with at least one year of experience in adult education lectures, seminars, developing and revising course material, preparing and reviewing course syllabi, lesson plans for curriculum related to professional military education, OR experience that involves recent logistics or sustainment planning and execution at the U.S. Army Battalion, Brigade, Division and/or Division Level.
DOCTORATE DEGREE: This position requires the incumbent to obtain a PhD or equivalent professional doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a field appropriate to the position within six (6) years from entry on duty (EOD). Faculty hires that commit to completing a terminal degree will be assessed every two years and may be reappointed for consecutive two-year terms, based upon evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion in six years. Failure to obtain a Ph.D., within the required six (6) year timeframe will be cause for your removal from the position.
To be awarded tested experience credit in lieu of a PhD or equivalent professional doctorate degree, a faculty member needs to have had a minimum of 20 years military service AND one of the following assignments in an O5 Level position: (a) Battalion/Brigade command (Command Selection - CSL); (b) Assistant Chief of Staff (CofS), G1 (CSL); or (c) Assistant CofS, G8 (CSL); OR 20 years military service AND at least 24 months combined in a sustainment coded primary staff position at Division or above, Echelons above Brigade (EAB) sustainment formations, or O5 level joint sustainment staff officer, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Understanding of Army and Joint Sustainment Doctrine
Conducting undergraduate or graduate level instruction with knowledge of classroom automation
Curriculum development
Small group instruction and facilitation
Academic rank and salary will be determined based on the selectee's education and experience as outlined in the Title 10 Civilian Faculty Manual. This position will be filled at one of the following academic ranks:
Instructor
Assistant Professor
Associate Professor
Professor
If youare currently serving on active duty: You MUST submit a certification from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active-duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions not more than 120 days after the date the certification is submitted for consideration in the hiring process.
