This vacancy is for a Supervisory International Trade Specialist in the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce.
Duties
As a Supervisory International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Support the Deputy Director General in engagements and negotiations with the State Department, and other U.S. Government agencies on Departmental and interagency policies, programs, and initiatives.
Advise the Deputy Director General in the development of Global Market (GM) goals and objectives for assigned programs and strategic initiatives.
Maintain liaison with International Trade Administration (ITA) legislative affairs officials on matters of interest to Global Markets and its stakeholders; engages and interacts with members of the foreign service community, including embassies, associations, and chambers of commerce on matters of interest of GM, ITA and the Department.
Help lead Global Market's efforts to engage U.S. Trade organizations and participants in the implementation of trade promotion strategies, initiatives.
Plan, direct, and assess actions of team members in pursuit of effective accomplishment of the office's mission.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS-15 level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must also possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Managing the formulation and implementation of commercial policy decisions and initiatives;
Providing support for engaging and negotiating on policies, programs and initiatives; and
Planning and assessing actions for a team including resource allocation, project scheduling and setting priorities
