The selectee of this position serves as a Detention Technology Specialist. You will be responsible for the management, direction, supervision, and coordination of district, regional, and national prisoner operations activities.
Duties
As a Detention Technology Specialist at the GS-0301-9/11 level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Overseeing all major information, facility and operational security, and communication technology initiatives.
Increasing the effectiveness of the detention technology infrastructure.
Preparing contract monitoring and other reports in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
Applying knowledge of correctional facilities operations relating to the detention, inspection, training, and transportation of inmates, in order to design and implement detention technology solutions.

Qualifications
GS-09 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).
You may qualify at the GS-0301-09 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications:
A. At least one year (12months) of full-time specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade GS-07 in the Federal Service performing duties which include the following: 1.) Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of a variety of program operations; 2.) Applying detention principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices, to accomplish assignments; 3.) Identifying necessary program improvements and assisting with developing changes to detention practices, policies, or procedures; 4.) Researching the effectiveness of detention programs or operation; 5.) Monitoring the performance of programmatic activities through the review of recurring or one-time reports.
B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.B. or J.D degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include Business Administration, Psychology, Homeland Security, etc or a field of study that is directly related to the position that provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS);
OR
C. A combination of education and specialized experience as listed above. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS).
GS-11 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. You may qualify at the GS-0301-11 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications:
A. At least one year (12months) of full-time specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade GS-09 in the Federal Service performing duties which include the following: 1.) Applying, advanced detention principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices, to accomplish assignments; 3.) Identifying necessary program improvements and developing changes to detention practices, policies, or procedures; 4.) Researching, analyzing, and evaluating on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of detention programs or operation; 5.) Monitoring the performance of programmatic activities through the review and analysis of recurring or one-time reports.
B. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include Business Administration, Psychology, Homeland Security, etc or a field of study that is directly related to the position that provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work.
