About the position: This position will be assigned to the Equestrian Center, Air Force Academy, CO. This position does not include benefits Must be available outside normal duty hours to respond to emergency issues and concerns, if necessary. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.

Duties

Provides administrative support to the Equestrian Center. Uses office/word-processing software and printing equipment to produce a variety of standardized documents and maintain electronic data files. Uses electronic mail to transmit and receive documents and messages. Upholds a waiting list by authorized/priority categories and fills boarding vacancies in a timely manner. Maintains and monitors boarding and winter lease patron accounts to include processing payments. Manages an accounts receivable record on delinquent accounts and repeatedly follows up until payment is secured. Responds to inquiries brought by customers, members of the staff, contractors, vendors DOD agencies, and representatives of the private sector. Notifies appropriate staff of the need for information or recommendations and either prepares the responses or follows up to ensure a timely response by others. Performs a variety of general duties; such as receiving telephone calls and visitors, routing and filing correspondence, and maintaining files and/or pertinent publications. Works with marketing to keep all brochures and other publications up to date. Serves as timekeeper for employees in the Equestrian Center and submits time cards for approval. Maintains and accurate and up-to-date database for all staff training. Serves as the IT custodian, completing annual inventories and handling equipment receipt and turn in. Serves as the Equipment Custodian, tracking equipment turn-ins and works with logistics to perform inventory inspections. Serves as the Records Custodian, works directly with the FARM, maintains and updates documents in MICT. Tacks-up horses, guides trail rides, hook up horse trailers, load and transport horses if needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative assistant type work which has provided comprehensive computer skills using standard MS office type automation software to include MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Must have computer knowledge to troubleshoot basic issues such as keyboard/mouse/printer failures, internet connectivity failures and software related failure messages. Must have knowledge of accounting procedures and techniques. Clerical experience must have provided the ability to select, arrange and compose materials to support the duties and responsibilities of the position. Must be able to work independently. Must have experience in tracking controlled documents and have the capability to perform duties at the level of the position. Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including proposing non-technical correspondence. Must have a strong knowledge of horse care and feeding to be able to adequately answer basic patron questions. Must have experience in taking horses, hooking and unhooking trailers and transporting livestock. Must have horseback riding experience and the skill and physical ability to ride for up to 2 hours. Required to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
