Duties

These Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist positions are located in the following locations: - Operational Support Division, SC, Cyber Exploitation Staff (SCCE) in Arlington, Virginia. - Intelligence Division, El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC), Tactical Support Unit (NETU) in El Paso, Texas. Among other duties, these positions will: Plan and direct the activities of staff in the collection, evaluation, production and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence. Oversee and plan the operations of an intelligence program with worldwide implications. Assess unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and difficulties encountered. Initiate, plan, and evaluate broad and comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies. Prepare and present briefings to high-level federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives and to foreign dignitaries in regards to difficult, complex, and controversial drug trafficking issues. Perform the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff members. May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance
  • Open to DEA Employees and CTAP Eligibles ONLY
  • Drug testing designated position
  • Polygraph Required
  • Mobility Agreement Required
  • Successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)
  • Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Intelligence Research Specialist Training Course.

Qualifications

GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
