Duties

These Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist positions are located in the following locations. Group Supervisor - Chicago Division, Milwaukee District Office, Intelligence Group 3 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Unit Chief - Intelligence Division, El Paso Intelligence Center, Financial Intelligence Unit (NEOM) in El Paso, Texas** Unit Chief - Intelligence Division, Office of Special Intelligence, Investigative Support Section, CNTOC/Europe/Asia/Africa Intelligence Support Unit (NSIC) in Chantilly, Virginia. Among other duties, the incumbents will perform the following duties: Plans and directs the activities of staff in the collection, evaluation, production and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence. Oversees and plans the operations of an intelligence program with worldwide implications. Assesses unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and difficulties encountered. Initiates, plans, and evaluates broad and comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies. Prepares and presents briefings to high-level federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives and to foreign dignitaries in regards to difficult, complex, and controversial drug trafficking issues. Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members. May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance
  • Open to DEA Employees and CTAP Eligibles ONLY
  • Drug testing designated position
  • Polygraph Required
  • Mobility Agreement Required
  • Successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)
  • Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Intelligence Research Specialist Training Course.

Qualifications

GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
