About the Position: Serves as Security Specialist for the organization with responsibility for managing all aspects of the security program, which includes information, personnel and property within the organization.

Duties

Process requests for personnel security clearances to sensitive job positions. Review civilian requests for personnel security actions to determine type of investigation required. Handle investigations of security violations to prepare necessary reports. Advise appropriate actions on where security requirements are not being observed to adjust in security systems when needed. Advise various groups on issues related to security of facilities. Inform the organizations members regarding the formulation of security plans based upon well-defined objectives.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Physical Security or Criminal Justice. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
