This vacancy is for an Administrative Specialist in the Office of the Secretary within the Department of Commerce (DOC), Office of the Secretary (OS), Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Office of the Chief Counsel for Industry and Security (OCCIS), located in Washington, D.C.
Duties
As an Administrative Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Provides advice, policy guidance, oversight, and support to Office supervisors on a range of litigation matters and HR actions.
Develops communications on programmatic changes from OHRM and/or ES that impact OCCIS operations.
Serves as records and property manager by performing a variety of technical duties in support of the completeness of the Office's electronic records and ad hoc initiatives.
Analyzes, identifies, monitors, and conducts regular internal records management and administrative document archiving reviews and evaluations to control related problems and issues.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Preparing timecards and ensuring consistency among all timekeeping records prepared by other office staff.
Establishing and maintaining tracking and record keeping systems for correspondence files and both centralized and decentralized office files; and
Receiving visitors and telephone calls and referring them to the appropriate official.
