About the Position: Brooke Army Medical Center, Hospital Education and Training, Fort Sam Houston, Bexar, Texas and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgery Center, Graduate Education, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Lackland, Bexar, Texas.
Office is in the main Medical Treatment Facility of the post, in a typical of medical administrative office from 7:30AM to 4:30PM, 1 hour lunch, M-F. Work is primarily sedentary in nature with occasional walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items.
Duties
Manage and maintain the Graduate Medical Education training data system
Provide guidance on the latest policies and administrative requirements pertaining to Graduate Medical Education
Monitor credentials and training files for physicians-in-training and enters documentation into the Centralized Credentials and Quality Assurance System (CCQAS)
Research, record, and prepare responses for intern/resident/fellow training verification requests
Requirements
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using automated systems to update and maintain applications and training records; assisting in the trainee selection process; and coordinating orientation or in-processing for incoming trainees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education Administration

Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:
(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR
(2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR
(3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achshonor.org/).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
