This position, at the full performance level, is located at the VA Greater Los Angeles Health Care System (VHA).The primary purpose of the position is to perform Training Specialist and Program Coordinator duties in the Workforce Development section.

Duties

Develop training and course curricula for adult learners and Health Professional Trainees, conduct and evaluate trainings. Collaborate with workforce development and support staff. Collaborate with education and program staff to complete tasks related to the creation and dissemination of training programs to VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. Conduct evidence-based training, orientation sessions, training videoconferencing workshops across multiple in-person and virtual platforms. Address technical problems which arise before and during in-person and virtual training. During program evaluations and analysis, present outcome metrics to department leads. Interact closely with the VA central office education offices, program support offices, and Office of Nursing Services and a wide array of subject matter experts to develop training materials, ensure materials utilize newest research and best practices, and deliver them to the field. Contract with approved vendors for learning materials. Create and manage tracking databases. Financial reporting as required. Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills. Effectively communicate to all levels of personnel, compose correspondence, assist with drafting, reporting, and finalizing outcome reports in the field of education, curricula development and professional development. Working knowledge of research procedures, regulations, design and methodology, as well as knowledge of and experience with systematic reviews, literature synthesis, and evidence reporting. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/22/2023. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, instructional courses and general training courses, as well as courses specific to non-clinical professional, as well as, non-trade/wage, non-professional occupations. Assignments may cut across a variety of specialty areas in training for a Service line or across GLA, in various geographic locations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending, and lifting of equipment weighing less than 50 pounds. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Some traveling to off station locations may be required.
