This position, at the full performance level, is located at the VA Greater Los Angeles Health Care System (VHA).The primary purpose of the position is to perform Training Specialist and Program Coordinator in the VA Family Services (FS) section, which is a part of the national VA Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (OMHSP)
Duties
Develop complex family services training curricula for adult learners and conduct trainings.
Collaborate with program staff to complete tasks related to the creation and dissemination of national Family Services training programs to VA mental health providers.
Produce and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding program planning and delivery.
Manage and disseminate large clinical intervention projects- ensures accreditation, tracks scheduling of national trainings, workshop announcements, applications and acceptances.
Conduct family services evidence-based training planning meetings, orientation sessions, training videoconferencing workshops across multiple platforms, and address all technical problems that arise before and during the virtual training, and during remainder of training period.
Interact closely with the VA Employment Education System (EES) and an wide range of mental health SMEs to develop training materials, ensure materials are utilizing newest research and best practices, and deliver them to the field.
Monitors and develops reports on the progress of all program EBP trainees to assure they meet post-workshop requirements and financial reporting if applicable; creates and manages tracking databases.
Excellent writing and communication skills to develop new Family Service interventions, effectively communicate policies and any changes to all levels of personnel, compose correspondence, and assist with drafting, reporting, and finalizing outcome reports in the field of mental health and family work.
Working knowledge of mental health research procedures, regulations, design and methodology, as well as knowledge of and experience with systematic reviews, literature synthesis, and evidence reporting.
Provide support for the quality assurance projects to which s/he is responsible. This includes overseeing the writing and revising of protocols, submitting modifications to IRB protocols to keep them apprised and obtain approval for changes in content, administration, timing, etc.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/31/2023.
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, instructional courses and general training courses, as well as courses specific to non-clinical professional, as well as, non-trade/wage, non-professional occupations. Assignments may cut across a variety of specialty areas in training for a Service line or across GLA, in various geographic locations. OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have: o Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or, o 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or o LL.M. OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine graduate education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending, and lifting of equipment weighing less than 50 pounds. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Some traveling to off station locations may be required.
