Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Social Science Analyst you will be:
Planning and developing research requirements for the agency for complex scopes of work for national and cross-site research contracts, task orders, purchase orders, and cooperative agreements to conduct quasi-experimental, scientific or ad-hoc studies, surveys and secondary analyses to support the advancement of knowledge in the workplace prevention and early intervention area within the Drug Free Workplace Program.
Designing, directing and conducting studies to analyze the effectiveness of existing programs and interrelated projects in the area of workplace prevention and early intervention of substance abuse in meeting goals, objectives and needs of the field.
Providing expert consultation to management in the formulation of sound program guidelines and policies affecting the critical area of enhancing the knowledge on effective substance abuse programs within the Drug Free Workplace Program.
May serve as project officer for the managed care contract, and as such overseeing and directing the contract, established to assist the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) in serving CSAP, the Office of Managed Care, the Division of Workplace Programs, workplaces across the nation, and managed care organizations developing and implementing public/private substance abuse prevention and early intervention programs and strategies.
Negotiating changes in the scope of work for the contract, writing new Request for Contracts doing technical reviews for award of this and future contracts and for addressing emerging issues related to the contract to prevent any significant problem situations.
Assisting the Division of Workplace Programs (DWP) Director in ensuring that workplace related research and demonstration programs are coordinated with CSAP, SAMHSA and other Federal agency programs ensuring that data collected and analyzed are comparable to support uniform Center policy-making on substance abuse prevention and early intervention within the Drug Free Workplace Program.

Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Basic Qualifications for 0101 series:
Have a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Transcripts must be provided)
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. (Transcripts must be provided)
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrate I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following:
Coordinating programs to enhance public health evaluation, quality improvement, and/or monitoring activities.
Developing analytic systems and methods to evaluate federal agency needs for effectiveness and efficiency.
Drafting, reviewing, and/or editing evaluation and performance reports.
Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and/or reporting on community data, for improvement in prevention related outcomes.
