About the Position: You will perform as a Engineering Technician (Civil) in the office engineering activities function of the construction resident and/or project field office, performs a variety of technical duties related to administration of construction contract work.
Duties
Tabulate and/or file data from inspection reports and other field reports to track contractor progress.
Monitor contractors labor data to insure compliance with safety and labor regulations.
Receive and manage information between construction field office and contractor staff.
Prepare contract documents and modification packages for submission and purchasing of computer software and hardware for the entire field office.
Serve as focal point for Automated Information Systems in support of the construction field office.
Serve as the focal point for timekeeping and credit card purchases in support of the construction field office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.
- This position requires a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment and must maintain the license for the duration of employment.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time.

To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with civil engineering practices, principles, and techniques; performing a variety of technical duties related to administration of construction contract work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as civil engineering, civil engineering technologies, or drafting and design.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with civil engineering practices, principles, and techniques; performing a variety of technical duties related to administration of construction contract work; assisting in the preparation of reports and data-calls on automation equipment needs for the field office; monitoring and inspecting all phases of contractor's work for compliance with plans and specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as civil engineering, civil engineering technologies, or drafting and design.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.
