About the Position: This is a TERM NTE 13 MONTHS Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) position with the 406TH ARMY FIELD SUPPORT BRIGADE, LOGISTICS READINESS CENTER located at Fort Jackson, SC.

Duties

Receives and processes incoming shipments. Operates electric forklifts capable of lifting up to 6000 pounds as high as 14 feet. Unloads, inspects, and tallies stock assuring quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. Selects proper item for issue. Palletizes and assembles in temporary warehousing/storage area. Operates government cargo trucks with an approximate weight of 5 tons.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent must be able to pass a full background investigation.
• Employee may be required to use safety equipment such as: safety shoes, gloves, aprons, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protectors, or any other safety equipment that will preclude personal injury.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• Forklift operator's certificate is required to be obtained and maintained within three months of hire.
• Incumbent must be able to work flexible tours of duty to include alternating shifts/irregular hours, weekends, night shift or day shifts.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position has been designated "Inclement Weather Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
