This position is located in the Veterans Transportation Service/Beneficiary Travel Section of the VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA. Beneficiary Travel staff review, adjudicate, authorize, and schedule travel for Veterans traveling from their home to VA medical appointments, the Veteran's assigned community-based outpatient clinics, and a VA authorized non-VA medical facility, as well as other facilities within the region who refer patients to the local facility for care.
Duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***
Serves as the primary contact for Veterans, doctors, nurses and administrative staff to arrange travel for eligible Veterans to appointments and residence when appropriate;
Uses laws and regulations to distinguish/ensure reimbursements are legitimate, or if fraudulent activity is being conducted by the beneficiary;
Using knowledge of clinical services, related software, and programs as they relate to computing and office automation;
Reviews, adjudicates, authorizes, and schedules travel for Veterans traveling from their home to VA medical appointment(s), community-based outpatient clinics, and authorized non-VA medical facilities, as well as other facilities within the region who refer patients to the local facility for care;
Accepts inbound and outbound transportation calls from Veterans and staff concerning transportation arrangements, questions, or problems related to transportation scheduling and travel claim reimbursement;
Provides friendly and courteous customer service;
Performs related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include performing clerical duties in an office environment; performing data entry utilizing computer software; and communicating effectively under pressure. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical demands requiring the employee to be versatile in the many functions performed. These include sedentary work performed at a desk with intermittent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of lightweight records or supplies.
The duties and responsibilities of the position require some mobility between various clinic areas in separate building location sties, but generally the job is sedentary with some standing, stooping, reaching, and lifting to 20 pounds. The employee is required to work with computer equipment at least 75% of the time which impacts on had and wrist motions.
