NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a Student Trainee (Computer Science) to join our team!
Duties
The interns selected for these positions will work closely with staff members within project team and group in order to achieve mutual objectives and goals. They will develop methods and promote standards for evaluation, testing, and improvement of technologies. Design, develop, and implement computer programs and/or hardware solutions for projects. Responsible for documenting progrss and results. Design, develop, and iimplement computer programs and/or hardware solutions for projects. Prepare and present briefings and demonstrations of technical progress to NIST management and to other agency sponsors. Prepare and present material that documents project accomplishments to NIST customers including industry, academia and other agencies.

- Must be enrolled at least half time at a qualifying institution
- Must possess a grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher out of a 4.0

Qualifications
For ZP-I Consideration:
You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree in Computer Science OR a degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and at least 15 of the 30 semester hours include any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
For ZP-II Consideration: Graduate
You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree in Computer Science OR a degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and at least 15 of the 30 semester hours include any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
In additional to the above, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or Applicants may qualify based on superior academic achievement provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.

All applicants must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, degree) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). In addition, you must be enrolled in school for the duration of the appointment.
You will be required to provide documentation to support your eligibility for the program.
Applicants must possess a grade point average (GPA) of a
3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0. Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9.
If you are submitting an acceptance/enrollment letter from your university you MUST also upload your last known unofficial transcript containing your cumulative GPA. If you do not provide proof of GPA, you will be disqualified from further consideration.

If you do not provide proof of enrollment for the current semester, you will be disqualified from further consideration.
If you are currently enrolled, but in your last semester/quarter of completing your degree/certificate requirements, you must show proof of continuing education, such as an acceptance letter, or you will be disqualified from further consideration.
This position has an education requirement. Transcripts must be submitted to validate that the education requirement has been met. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package. However, an official copy will be required prior to a final offer of employment.
