The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Chief, Special Missions Flight exercising second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the (608 Air Communication Squadron, Special Missions Flight).
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the (608th Air Communications Squadron, Special Missions Flight).
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents 608th Air Communication Squadron, Special Mission Flight with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Provides technical assistance and guidance to communications-information system users, contracting personnel and personnel in other disciplines.

- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA
- cont... certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this 9 month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from position.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, there is no Group Coverage Qualification Standard for this series.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Through experience in Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes directing deployable voice and data capabilities enabling conventional and nuclear bomber activities along with maintenance of deployable nuclear, command, control and communications systems.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of (communications-computer system configurations, satellite communications, operations, applications, governing directives, practices, methodologies, and various security approaches to formulate and manage the deployable operations including network configuration, system security program, telecommunications, radio frequency, system operations and services, etc).
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization
through subordinate supervisors.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program
requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of system architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods.
Knowledge of acquisition planning, to include requirements and contract methodologies sufficient to provide a critical analysis with a recommended course of action on a wide variety of contractual matters.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
