Duties

You will compile, update, and maintain existing GIS data. You will  manage the GIS environment by performing daily editing tasks within a versioned database. You will assist survey crew with field data collection and processing. You will provide technical advice and guidance to customers to facilitate GIS data collection, publication, and usage. You will create and revise standard or custom cartographic products. You will ensure that the correct and appropriate application of geographic and cartographic concepts and principles are applied to database construction, analyses, and production of high quality digital and hardcopy GIS products.

Requirements

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing professional and technical services, compiling, updating and maintaining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, and planning, developing and establishing cartographic compilations for existing or proposed development plans.
