Duties

The Diversion Program Manager position is open in the following location(s): Detroit, MI - Detroit Division Houston, TX - Houston Division San Diego, CA - San Diego Division Seattle, WA - Seattle Division Among other duties, this position will support: Serving as the principal advisor to the SAC in this area and is considered the expert in all Diversion related matters. Providing technical and administrative management over supervisory investigators primarily involved in planning and overseeing investigations of potential diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals and listed chemicals. These investigations primarily involve cases at the higher echelon or of greater overall significance, generally with national or international involvement. Ensuring that all investigations are conducted within the scope of the Federal drug laws and are in accordance with the agency's rules, policies, and regulations. Establishing and implement strategic objectives and priorities related to the Diversion Control Program. Providing support to enforcement operations in the Field Division on Diversion related activities that may affect internal policies and programs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance
  • Open to DEA Employees and CTAP Eligibles
  • Drug testing designated position
  • Successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)
  • Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Diversion Investigator Training Course.

Qualifications

GS-15: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) Planning, conducting, and overseeing investigations encompassing the manufacturing, importing and trafficking of licit drugs and the diversion of chemicals which may involve large, complex and multi-mission organizations and lead to cases of multi-jurisdictional, national, or international significance; 2) Providing guidance in order to prevent and eliminate the illicit diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals and listed chemicals; 3) Ensuring administrative, operational, and legal program compliance; 4) Assisting in developing division wide policies pertaining to the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), the Chemical Diversion and Trafficking Act (CDTA), and the Narcotic Addict Treatment Act; and 5) Detecting violations and pursuing appropriate administrative, civil, and/or judicial action.
