About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/OA) in the Atlanta, GA Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). This position is located in the major metropolitan city of Atlanta, with easy access to major interstate highways and business setting. Atlanta has year-round temperatures ranging from 35 to 90 degree Fahrenheit. Salary shown in this announcement includes locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

Duties

Operate a variety of office automation equipment including personal computers, facsimile machines, scanners, digital copiers. Verifies information entered in data systems balances source document records. Transcribes data from numerous source documents into automated systems. Conduct in person interviews to verify complete data required for final processing of forms and records for entry into the military Service. Assembles applicants for processing and enlistment ceremonies, administers briefings, and instructs applicants on procedures. Administer pre-oath, and brief applicants on MEPS procedures. Review records to ascertain that all necessary documents are present according to the requirements. Performs records management of electronic and paper applicant records. Collates, reproduce, assemble and distribute documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee may be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
  • Employees will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires frequent local travel and occasional Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS Genesis System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer LiteracyOral CommunicationPersonnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
