This position is located at the Pine Ridge Service Unit, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and is a member of the Facilities Engineering Team. The primary duties of this position are to perform maintenance and repair on the plumbing, low voltage electrical, heating, ventilation and cooling systems in the Pine Ridge Hospital and Staff Quarters units.
Duties
Installs, modifies, maintains and performs preventative maintenance on various plumbing systems in the Hospital, Clinics and Quarters units including but not limited to domestic water supply and waste systems; drain and vent systems; ground source heat pump loops and connecting piping; and associated equipment including but not limited to pumps, valves, sinks, lavatories, bath tubs, showers, whirl pools and hot water heaters.
Installs, modifies, maintains and performs preventative maintenance on various structural systems in the Hospital, Grounds Garage, Clinics, miscellaneous storage structures, and Quarters units which consists of concrete block, wood or steel stud structures, including carpentry, carpet laying, painting duties.
Installs, modifies, maintains and performs preventative maintenance on various low voltage electrical systems in the Hospital, Clinics and Quarters units including but not limited to power, lighting, paging, central clock, computer, telephone, electronic access, intercom and Nurse Call systems.
Installs, modifies, maintains and performs preventative maintenance on HVAC systems in the Hospital, Clinics and Quarters units including but not limited to the hot water heating, the chilled water cooling and condensation, and stand-alone heating/cooling systems; Maintains and repairs air conditioning and refrigeration equipment/systems.
Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on various Specialty Systems in the Hospital including but not limited to Dental Air and Vacuum; Medical Air and Vacuum; Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen; and associated equipment including but not limited to air compressors, vacuum pumps and associated valves, manifolds and piping.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
WG-08:
A. I have independently performed all of the following duties where I am consulted by others as lead technician in appropriate preventive maintenance methods for repairs, minor diagnosis and installation of 120 volts and 220 volts outlets, switches, specialty techniques to repair plumbing systems, valves, faucets, drains & installation of cabinets and shelving, use of manual and gas powered equipment and specialty tools, and hydraulic machines, paint equipment and building in accordance to federal facility standards.
B. I have performed all of the following duties on my own initiative but under general supervision conduct text of temperature sensors, locate outage, use of soldering tools and equipment in repairs, identify malfunction in plumbing systems and perform specialty repairs, installation of plastic laminate, hand rails, and installation of facility windows, patching holes, prep and paint building structures.
C. I have performed the following duties under supervision, subject to occasional inspection troubleshoot air compressors, water treatment systems, repair plumbing system, basic electrical repairs, relocating partitions, the use of a miter saw, grinders to cut angles.
D. I have performed the majority of the following duties under close supervision of a work leader who observes tasks in progress and to assure upon completion of assignment quality control of landscape project, construction of walls, installation of doors, routine carpentry, routine flooring work and the use of electric hand tools and some heavy equipment including riding mowers, skid loaders, trucks and trailers for general duties to perform the daily task.
E. I do not have the abilities described above.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
