The incumbent performs maintenance and repair work order completion in the computerized work order and preventive maintenance system related to carpentry work, painting, basic furniture repair, furniture assembly, general mechanics related to equipment preventive maintenance and repair (replacing belts, batteries, bolts, screws, etc.), textile care, ceiling tile replacement and repair and patient valuable collection/pack out.
Duties
Major duties include but is not limited to:
Assists journey carpenter's workload by installing and hanging furnishings to a variety of wall types
Completes work orders to repair furniture and ceiling tiles
Possesses basic skills in a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting and mechanics for equipment repairs
Ability to use standard tools such as hand drills, power drills, hammers, power screw drivers and an assortment of hand tools
Ability to read, write and comprehend written instructions and floor plans and make simple computations and reports
Logs receipt and storage stock
Operates mechanized fork lifts and pallets jacks
May be required to handle hazardous or sensitive materials
Stacks, moves and arranges items on pallets considering height, weight and special handling requirements
Ensure proper height, weight and other load and storage requirements are met and that damage is prevented
Receives and stores issued Patient Assistance items or additional equipment and other materials as specified
Receives bulk sets of linen for storing the clean linen on storage racks
Responsible for making up individual ordered for clean linen distribution to all using services within the facility
Responsible for cleaning and sorting delivery carts prior to packing for distribution
Receives incoming call and email requests for linen orders and maintain accurate records of linen deliveries
Responsible for packing out residential Veteran personal items on discharge
Responsible for correctly collecting the valuable and other items per policy and disposing of items via Logistics Services as outlined in policy
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must exercise normal care and adhere to all safety regulations during the performance of their duties to prevent injury to him/herself, fellow co-workers, patients or visitors. The incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms. This requires him/her to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring uncomfortable positions. The incumbent occasionally lifts items weighing more than 50 pounds.
