This position is located in the USAGM, Voice of America, East Asia and Pacific Division. The incumbent will serve as a Multimedia Senior Editor within VOA with the Vietnamese Service. This is a Supervisory position and if selected incumbent will be responsible for preparing evaluations.
Duties
As a Supervisory International Broadcaster (Vietnamese), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
Prepares performance evaluations of Service staffers.
Plans and directs the development of audio, TV, and/or Internet programming and program packages in the Vietnamese language by analyzing political, cultural, and economic trends in order to meet U.S. objectives and present cohesive, listenable or watchable broadcast to the people of Vietnam.
Selects and approves program material for audio, TV, and/or Internet for appropriateness of content, balance, and targeted area interest.
Selects and write highly targeted program materials or complex and balanced original scripts for broadcast by the Service, including area experts, daily newspapers, or magazines.

- This position is not covered by a union agreement.
- This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This position has been designated supervisory requiring that the selectee on an initial appointment as a supervisor or manager serve a one-year probationary period.
- The full performance grade level for this position is GS-13.

Qualifications
Screen out factor: Applicant must have fluency in both English and Vietnamese languages that enables you to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-12 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge and mastery of audio, TV and Internet broadcasting principles, practices, and methods.
Thorough Knowledge and understanding of the basic objectives and program policies of the Voice of America.
Knowledge of writing/editing principles and practices; demonstrated need and ability to target the audio, TV, and Internet program to the audience; to conceive, develop and apply fresh, new approaches to program, and new formats.
Thorough understanding of world events, including U.S. foreign policies toward the targeted area and the region.
Demonstrates experience assigning and reviewing programming for radio, TV, and Internet.
Education
Education is not required for this grade level. It cannot be used for qualification purposes.
