The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a security assistant assigned to the Pass and Registration Section of the Plans and Programs Flight and to process various security related documentation including request for issuance of Contractor Access Badges, Proximity Badges, identification credentials, as well as other documents to (Cont. below)
Duties

include vehicle registrations, vehicle passes and Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) cards and passes.
Duties:
Processes applications and issues identification cards, contractor access badges, vehicle registration, and temporary passes to eligible personnel.
Provides general customer service.
Maintains controlled forms.
Carries out routine, miscellaneous clerical tasks.

- This position requires shift work by the employee which may require other than normal duty hours. It may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Typing and knowledge of how to operate a computer is required, however a qualified typist is not required.
- The employee may be required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, or the GS-0086, Security Clerical and Assistance Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes s practical knowledge of standardized security methods, rules, regulations, and principles to provide support to security specialists in security administration; and perform nonstandard security assignments and resolve recurring problems. Knowledge of security procedures pertaining to handling and disposing of classified material, such as classification markings, accountability and control, declassification, and destruction procedures.

EDUCATION: I have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of mission, policy processes, procedures, and customer service goal sufficient to perform the routine, procedural work of the Pass and Registration Section, as well as knowledge of general office clerical functions.
Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorized documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits or other forms of authorization.
Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; and produce a variety of documents and reports.
Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, guide others, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
