Duties
Works in an Automotive Craft Shop with primary concern for providing guidance to 3 or more authorized patrons in the overhaul, maintenance and repair of personally owned vehicle.
Provides assistance and technical guidance to participants on practical aspects of make-up, operation and installation of components, assemblies and systems of various types of privately owned automotive vehicles.
Performs maintenance and repair of equipment.
Conducts training sessions under a semi-formal structured training program to develop patrons aptitudes and provide an opportunity for skill development in maintenance/repair brakes, battery, fuel system, timing and tuning, headlights, etc.
Requirements

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- For showing the proper techniques and methods of operation and explaining the types of parts worked on, is required to stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- May be required to lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally items weighing about 50 pounds during the course of the demonstrations.
- Most of the work is done inside the shop, which is generally well-lighted, heated and ventilated. The training leader may occasionally work outside or in areas that are drafty, cold and poorly lighted.
- During demonstrations and instructions on the assembly of parts and repair techniques, is required to crawl under vehicles; where oil, grease, battery acids and hydraulic fluids may cause burns, soil or irritate the skin.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
- Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
- Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.
Qualifications
All candidates MUST meet the following minimum qualifications:
knowledge of the overhaul, repair, and installation of a variety of components, accessories, parts, and assemblies of automobiles, AND
ability to determine and show proper techniques and practices to be followed in setting up testing and other equipment in an automotive center, AND
ability to determine and show proper techniques for the use of hand tools and safety devices to conduct training sessions, AND
ability to communicate effectively with shop patrons and coworkers, both by oral means and by demonstrating work methods, AND
skills and knowledge to observe participants in the automotive crafts activities and determine their ability to accomplish tasks initiated, AND
ability to conduct inspections on both American and foreign manufactured privately owned vehicles (ex: automotive vehicle for safety compliance etc.), AND
ability to lead or supervise, AND
ability to use and maintain tools and equipment (ex: electric repair drills, air tools, battery charges, spark plug cleaning and testing equipment, brake lathes etc.).
HIGHLY PREFERRED are those candidates that possess ALL of the minimum qualifications above AND:
Car Wash Equipment Repair Experience, *AND/OR
Towing Experience WITH a valid State Issued Drivers License with a Towing Endorsement. (must upload your license at the time of application)
