This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Executive Secretariat under the Office of the Chief of Staff. The incumbent provides support to the Archivist, Deputy Archivist, and offices throughout NARA and is responsible for specialized and complex administrative, logistical, and analytical support to the immediate Office of the Archivist. This consists of agency-wide, or in some cases, government-wide and related professional community impacts.

Duties

As a Supervisory Executive Secretariat Specialist, you will: Serve as the senior specialist and supervisor for the Office of the Executive Secretariat over a specialized team of 3-5 employees, regularly using independent judgment when making assignments and balancing workload of subordinate staff within the office. Provide a wide range of program management and administrative support services, including action plans, with regard to the broadest and most significant programs and initiatives and the most controversial problems and issues facing the agency (such as audit reports and findings that stand to affect the reputation of the agency and its employees). Plan, perform research, and draft and edit written materials for meetings and speeches covering a wide range of topics related to agency strategic initiatives. Conduct in-depth analysis of high-level incoming correspondence, orders, directives, and requests to the agency on the full range of topics spanning the agency's mission areas and responsibilities; identifies all issues involved, determines action needed as well as the appropriate method of response and the appropriate responder (e.g., Archivist of the United States, Deputy Archivist of the United States, Chief of Staff or other Senior Executives). Analyze existing and create new administrative requirements when needed to enhance the Executive Secretariat's operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Analyzing, reviewing and editing reports and/or written correspondence for items such as; grammar, adherence to policy, organization of material, appropriateness for intended audience AND Providing guidance and recommendations for programs and/or policies, to improve effectiveness and efficiency AND Prioritizing competing projects; to include coordinating with executive level staff and individuals outside your work group In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
