You will serve as an Aircraft Mechanic in the of Command Office, MRO Production Department, Production Lines Division, of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will disassemble components/systems and determine the required repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls on aircraft. You will connect related systems such as hydraulic/pneudraulic and cable systems to newly installed or repaired units. You will complete check out procedures to ensure proper operation. You will visually check components to locate worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts and accessories. You will conduct pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and check pneudralic/hydraulic systems after repair on aircraft.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Assisting with installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing tests on a variety of aircraft systems, components, and prototypes; Assisting with inspecting, disassembling, reassembling, overhauling and testing aircraft systems; Use of a variety of tools to perform mechanical tasks.
