About the Position: This position is located in the Transfer Center (TC)/ Inter-Facility Transport Team (IFTT) Division, Emergency Department, Directorate for Medical Services (DMS) at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune (NMCCL). The employee will work a minimum of 80 hours per pay period to include eight, twelve, and sixteen hour shifts, and overtime as required to meet the needs of the transfer program.

Duties
Conduct a preliminary assessment to identify an appropriate plan of care for life-threatening conditions to initiate lifesaving measures.
Document in writing in a clear and concise manner the patient care rendered based on the signs and symptoms observed.
Provide specific details of treatments done during transport to include drug type, dose and route, immobilization methods used, etc.
Administer oxygen, intravenous (IV) fluids, blood transfusions and all types of medications during emergent events.
Operate specialized medical equipment such as resuscitators, defibrillators, electrocardiographs, oxygen apparatus, intravenous pumps, rapid intravenous infusers, and ventilation devices.
Provide cardiac care as required, but not limited to treating chest pain and cardiac emergencies by monitoring cardiac electrical activity.
Apply and use manual defibrillator and external mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices as prescribed.
Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- In accordance with DoD Instruction 1402.05, personnel involved in the health and mental health care to children under the age of eighteen must receive a Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check.
- Incumbent must undergo a Child Care Background Check investigation and periodic re-verification to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift materials and/or personnel weighing up to 150 pounds individually, and up to 250 pounds assisted.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a paramedic certification in the state of North Carolina or in a state on the National Registry with North Carolina reciprocity.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification., Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification., and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- This position requires critical care certification, Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic Certification (CCP-C), or Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program (CCEMTP) Certification within 20 months from start date.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 1 year of start date.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge,
skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in
or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have
been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assessing patients' medical status and reporting to subsequent care providers; administering a variety of medications and critical care interventions to patients during transport; and operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
