If selected, you will serve as a Financial Technician on the Accounts Receivable Team, Marketing and Regulatory Programs Minneapolis Business Site. The Accounts Receivable Team is the focal point for agency collections and debt management. Primary responsibilities include researching and entering incoming payments (collections) into the financial system and supporting the Debt Management Specialists and external customers in the area of collections.

Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to: Posts all collections to the financial system accurately and timely (high volume). Performs duties associated with collections and debt collection: validates, monitors, controls, and maintains accounting transactions and accounting records for multiple accounts. Runs daily Treasury system reports to account for all agency collection activity. Reconciles subsidiary financials to general financials for accounts having a variety of transactions. Reconciles detailed listings of outstanding transactions to the financial system. Consistently works with other offices and agencies to ensure our agencies collections entered balance with Treasury’s records. Effectively handles difficult customer contacts, negotiating and resolving controversial financial issues in a courteous and professional manner. Pulls and organizes documents for audits as requested.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Working knowledge of computer systems and software applications, such as financial software, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word, and the internet. Processing accounting actions in automated financial system. Determining the accuracy and validity of various financial transactions OR 4 years of successfully completed education above the high school level; OR equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-05 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. TRANSCRIPTS are required if: You are qualifying for the position based on education. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university.
