Duties
Designs, develops, and manages geospatial databases using appropriate hardware and software.
Provides technical user support for all aspects of geospatial data and software.
Assists in the development of statewide standards and applications, while bringing consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness to geospatial users.
Develops and implements quality assurance guidelines for geospatial data projects.
Defines data need parameters for specific geospatial projects and/or assignments.
Implements advanced analytical techniques necessary to solve complex geospatial and GIS issues and applying innovative solutions and methods of analysis to GIS problems
Designs and develops custom solutions to interface geospatial databases and applications to other software platforms.
Analyzes and evaluates proposed systems and processes.
Plans, coordinates, manages, and leads the implementation of geospatial applications with state and/or regional level impacts and incorporates GIS resource data into large scale planning documents and processes.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience Requirements:
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement(s); please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-11) of the position to be filled. Examples include, but are not limited to: Experience producing and maintaining GIS data, maps and applications; completing geospatial analysis in support of a diverse group of customers such as resource specialists, planners, and/or managers. Experience creating GIS data sets from other geospatial data (Legal Land Descriptions, coordinate data, etc.); administering enterprise level geodatabases, implementing mobile workflows, completing detailed metadata, publishing web services, and integrating access to GIS data and services in non-GIS applications. Python scripting experience is preferred.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of Education for Experience: There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-12 and above grade levels.

Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary, requiring long periods of sitting in one position, intense concentration, and working for several hours at a time. Stress may be experienced on a regular basis in attempting to respond to conflicting objectives and in working against tight deadlines
with limited resources.
Work Environment: The work is primarily in an office/computer room environment. Occasional fieldwork may be required. Fieldwork is in support of resource mapping projects and involves extended days of travel, sometimes in poor weather conditions. The incumbent must be comfortable with less than ideal conditions in remote settings in the accomplishment of mapping projects.
