This position will be working documents related to national policy formulation, pending criminal/civil cases, current events, or other major legal issues, serving as a liaison with congressional staff members, personnel from federal, state or local agencies; White House congressional liaison staff members; Office of Management and Budget liaison personnel; and private organizations and citizens to resolve problems in the processing of congressional correspondence/documents in a timely manner.

The duties and responsibilities for an Executive Correspondence Office generally include, but are not limited to, the following: - Plan and prepare reports and other working documents related to complex program issues. - Conduct accurate, up-to-date tracking of all pending congressional priority correspondence, including maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets detailing the status of all such correspondence, and providing a weekly report on pending correspondence to management. - Assist management officials and senior staff of the organization in preparing correspondence to external customers that are of fundamental concern to Congress, state and local governments, private and public organizations and community groups. - Serve as the point-of-contact and source for guidance relating to document protocol, format, compositions, and grammar to lower-level staff members in the Executive Secretariat, as well as Departmental offices. - Conduct administrative studies to provide a basic outline of results desired to accomplish the project goals and objectives through refining or developing more specific guidelines, such as implementing regulations or methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the policy correspondences.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Executive Correspondence Officer, (GS-0301-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Managing an automated tracking system, such as the electronic Consolidated Asset Tracking System (eCATS), for all incoming correspondence to determine the issues raised; Ensuring background and support information are provided in Congressional correspondence packages; and Analyzing issues concerning the efficiency or effectiveness of program operations.
