This position is located in Lyndon B Johnson National Historical Park, in the Intrepretation Division. This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year and can be extended up to 5 years.

Duties

This position serves as the Program Manager for the division of Interpretation, Education, and Community Engagement at both Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Waco Mammoth National Monument. The position oversees all visitor services, interpretation, education, outreach, and Volunteer-In-Parks programs for both parks. A critical management team role, it provides management oversight, leadership, and mentorship for the division. Positions supervised include four GS-7/9 Park Rangers and, indirectly, volunteers, two GS-5s and interns at both WACO and LYJO. The position supports the lead park ranger for frontline operations with division schedule and operational needs and serves as a key member of the joint park management team. Critical upcoming projects include interpretive and visitor experience expertise/input to the ongoing Texas White House Complex rehabilitation project and initial interpretive planning for Waco Mammoth in conjunction with park operational partners. The incumbent manages and monitors the division budget for WACO and LYJO and collaborates with other divisions to ensure that the Interpretation division's and parks' goals are accomplished. The roll occasionally assists with frontline interpretation as necessary.

To qualify for this position, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: leading or supervising a park interpretive program, environmental educator or teacher in a park, recreation, or conservation area, management or program specialist work involving the development and/or implementation of policy related to the interpretation or management of park areas or similar operations. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
