About the Position: The position is located with the 81st Medical Group, at Keesler Air Force Base. The incumbent will be in and around the kitchen area and will require lifting, standing and walking for prolong periods of time.
Duties
Set up dining room tables for service.
Set up, operate, disassemble, clean and reassemble dishwashing machine after each use.
Remove inspection doors, strainer pans, screens and spray arms for preventive maintenance and cleaning.
Portion, wrap assemble and arrange salads, desserts, juice, jell-o, sandwiches and menu items for patient tray line.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Emergency overtime may be required.
- The work may require the employee to possess a Food Handler's Card and use/wear appropriate uniform, safety, and sanitation equipment.
- May be required to attend Quality Improvement Training and to participate in section Quality Improvement Teams and data collection efforts.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as: preparing and serving food, washing dishes, maintaining a clean work environment by disposing of garbage, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping. I can operate a cash register, and have the skill to perform simple arithmetic. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

The employee exerts moderate physical effort when lifting or moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds. The work requires pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Use powered cleaning equipment. Requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
Works in a kitchen environment with constant exposure to steam and heat from cooking and the dishwasher. Environment often uncomfortably hot, noisy and humid. Danger of slipping on freshly mopped floors or on floors where food has be spilled. Danger of cuts or serious burns due to exposure to hot liquids, sharp blades, and hot surfaces. Exposed to constant temperature changes when going from kitchen to refrigerators and freezers. Work area has adequate lighting.
