The incumbent serves as an Visitor Services Information Assistant, the primary purpose of the position is the dissemination of information and interpretative assistance to the public through various means.

Duties
Greet visitors, answer questions, help them location items, and provide advice or recommendations.
Create and/or process passes for employees and visitors.
Sell products or services to customers.
Identify and determine what information to provide visitors.
Identify inconsistent information given to public and use logical judgement to resolve it
Read and keep apprised of information and procedures to be aware of changes and new requirements.
Collect money, balance the cash drawer, and generate reports for credit card and debit sales.
Perform activities such as exchanging merchandise or refunding money.
Adjust sales reports after processing merchandise exchanges and refunds.
Maintain daily record of sales transactions for office.
Use database or spreadsheet software to enter, sort, and retrieve data for standard reports
Prepare correspondence relaying current factual and reliable information
Use word processing software and printing equipment to create, edit, and retrieve, a variety of standardized documents..
Prepare customer records and paperwork e.g., invoices, contracts, bills, receipts or similar documents
Keep up to date records of personnel and contact information.
Work on standard and non-standard assignments resolving problems as they arise.
Identify and formulate standards operating procedures for work processes
Perform timekeeping for employees, or departments.
Prepare bills for collection.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience
For the GS-05 level: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level OR a Bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school;The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
Examples of specialized experience include one or more of the following: Greeted visitors, responded to visitor inquiries, and accounted for collected monies using computer programs and records; Planned and presented interpretive talks and programs for visitors, local schools, and other groups; Performed clerical duties, including mail and package delivery, assisted with scheduling for conference rooms, and operated audio/visual equipment.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
